Piedmont Bike Tour
Bicycle along the vine-clad Langhe hills, sample the fresh local white truffles, soothe your body in the healing thermal springs, get bold with a Barbaresco or Barolo, and relax for the night in the converted monastery of San Maurizio. This is our bike tour of Piedmont, Italy. As its name implies, this Italian region called Piedmonte, lies 'at the foot of the mountains' and has managed to remain inexplicably untouched by tourism. The region’s quiet narrow roads wind along some of Italy’s most scenic ridgelines - and on a clear day - the views stretch from these vine-covered hills to the towering Alps and Appenines that surround you on three sides. Piedmont is also the birthplace of the slow food movement, a reaction against fast food culture. Hence the region boasts over 300 types of cheeses, the world’s largest truffle fair and many of the traditional dishes such as plin (small handmade ravioli) require hours of caring preparation. And then there is the wine - some of great wines including Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera
